AMDRyzen 4000 Laptops: Disable Turbo Boost / Decrease Temperatures! Yes, of course, but I think that this tweak is worth mentioning considering how hot the Ryzen 4000 series laptop processors have been running. This tweak is not very useful for a desktop CPU. True, but if you've seen some of the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 or ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Performancemodes: Silent - Balanced - Turbo (built-in, with default fan curves) GPU modes: Eco - Standard - Ultimate - Optimized; Screen refresh rate control with display overdrive (OD) Custom fan curve editor, power limits and turbo boost selection for every performance mode; Anime matrix control including animated GIFs, clock and Audio SoI searched online and Bing found a program called Throttlestop to disable Turbo. Downloaded and ran it and disabled it and rebooted and viola! Temps are now GPU max at 72C and CPU max at 66C. A 33C difference just from disabling turbo boost. I don't notice any slowdown in gaming while the system is much cooler.

Finally disable "Turbo Boost Short Power Max Enable." You'll never reach these levels of power usage, but removing all power caps allows you to push your silicon to the limits. Overclocking P
Weactually disable Turbo Boost via a GPO across all of our laptops during the summer months and it reduces our overheating calls to 1 or 2 rather than ten times that. And no-one has noticed.. (1500 laptops) Try turning game mode on, on the Alienware Command Center. It helps the laptop get better airflow. Turboboost is a dynamic setting, in that the system will boost things if the kit is up to it. However, it's designed to conserve power (which reduces heat too), so if you're not using PrecisionBoost (PB) is the turbo system on Ryzen CPU's, and is defaulted to ON for stock operation. Core Performance Boost (CPB) is an auto-OC, which should default to OFF for stock operation. Both take advantage of any thermal headroom to keep performance as high as possible.
